hello, as for now i've been actively playing MMORPGs and being active on IRC (actually with some people i even know IRL), but i sense that i have some sort of a monologue-problem, as for i start talking about some random crap, even if it's not interesting to anyone. althoug, i can stop, but the main problem is that i'm being used to IRC-type of conversations, as for you talk about some topic and wait for someone to hook up. (talking in mmorpgs is irc as well) I'd like to know any ideas or opinions how to "fit in more to normal conversation "protocol""
The same way you learned IRC-type conversation: learn by practicing it,...
Just a hint: you are winning when people are telling YOU something, that's what you have to aim for.
op here: well i'm just scared that by practising, ill be trying too hard, if you get what i mean, as of my friends (i'm not quite sure how i managed to keep any) taking me as a total idiot when it comes to discussions. (i'm not dumb, i just can't talk)
Conversations must be natural, so don't feel obligated to respond back if you have nothing to respond with. if they conclude that you're an idiot because you're not talking, then there's something wrong with them and not you. Again, only open your mouth if it's of any use to anyone.
Like my post here, wow.
op: so basically from those posts i conculded that i should think a bit more before opening my mouth... well the only problem with this, that my conversation style is very random, i tend to jump from one topic to other topic, and maybe start explaining the other topic (to explain the situation) so i can then jump back to topic 1 and finish it with understanding of the plot.... well too bad this only works in programming languages, people tend to get bored as hell before i can get back to topic 1
