I was wondering for some time how common it was for people of my age to live with their parents. I always thought I was late. I guess I don't really need to hurry up, then.
Still, I think living by myself would be a necessary next step in the development of both my psyche and my reputation. My parents and older brother still consider me immature and dependent; I feel I need to prove that I can handle myself both to myself and to them.

You're right about that.
However, disregarding how others see you doesn't seem such a great idea either. I believe I need to find a compromise between not at all caring what people think and obsessing over it.
