Making fun of my patients. (65)

I work as a psychologist. As most do, I record conversations. I like to play them back for my friends, fellow psychologists (and they play theirs), etc. No harm in it right? I'm in my office one day, and I'm with a few of my colleagues and some friends. We're listening to a tape from a guy who was molested by his dad as a kid. We're all laughing and hollering, having a good time. I completely forgot I had a appointment with this same person right at the same time. He walks in, and catches me playing thet tapes for everybody. He runs out, looking like he was about to bawl, before I could explain. Now I might be done. If word gets out from him I could lose my other clients, my job, and my prestige. What do I do? How should I make it up to this guy, or get him not to talk?

Tell him you were worried by his case for some reason, and wanted confirmation from your fellow psychologist friends. Then procced to reassure him by saying you all thought it was nothing in the end.

If you were only with psychologists, that could work.

Also I hope you weren't all laughing to tears when he walked in. Otherwise, you'll probably have to lie even more like "one of my friends told us a joke at the wrong moment, and it made us laugh, I'm sorry you happened to walk in at this very moment".

That said, I think you deserved it.

Actually we were laughing, drinking, and eating pizza. And making plenty of jokes about him, which I'm sure he heard. And there were many non-psychologist people there, and I imagine he could tell some of them didn't look very professional.

It's hard not to believe that you're a troll. If you're not a troll, then you're retarded,...

If so, don't worry, your (ex)patient will be so traumatised with the whole thing that he'll never speak about it. So just take it as a lesson and move on.

I'll expand on your concept:
Why must everything interesting in life be made of lies?

Wha? Don't act like you fuckers wouldn't do it too. Yeah yeah patient confidentiality and what not but it's their own fault. Their entrusting their innermost thoughts to another human. I'm not a robot. And some of this stuff is just too good to keep to myself. A little fun isn't any harm, is it?

Between laughing to it and telling to your friends, and playing back recordings for them is a huge gap. And you've crossed it swiftly.
