my girlfriend has lung cancer the doctors say.
they tell her and her parents she has 6 months left at most, she starts chemo today... she's only 14.
what can i do to help her?

Just be extremely supportive.
She's going to be extremely exhausted, sick, and irritated after the chemo, so if she snaps at you, cancels dates, etc., just let it slide. Don't baby her too much because she'll feel completely useless, so treat her as normally as possible, but still pay attention to see if she's having trouble.
And most importantly, keep in mind that lung cancer IS survivable.
My grandma had it and survived, and your girlfriend has the benefit of being young and strong.
Good luck to you, her, and her family!

I don't get it, why start chemo if she has 6 months left? If she is in chemo she won't enjoy those last 6 months (seems she is terminal?).

>>2 cut the bullshit, she is gonna die and she should enjoy the time she has left..not puking etc...

Just be there for here and prepare for the worst.

Unless your an MD or an RN, you can't help her. But you can enrich her life with your presence, the same as you could do for any living being - all of which will die.

also, >>4, depressing...

turns out she knew lung cancer was treatable, so she told me that so i wouldnt be so worried.
turns out she has Indolent non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
and the doctor made a mistake... she's already in the 3rd stage and her time is cut in half. so, she's got 3-4 months left. she was in remission before.
and thanks for the advice.
>>2
she has been a bit snappy, and a bit i guess you could say bitchy, but i'm just letting it all slide and i'm just enjoying the time i can spend with her
>>3
at this point, sheis beyond saving. even if she got a surgery, the doctors said it's only a 5% chance of sucess. i'm just going to spend as much time with her as possible
>>4
you are a dick

Just try not to feel like you've lost something before you've lost it.

thanks for your kind words everyone. it's what i needed.
yea, we've been living life to the fullest right now. truth is, we dated for 3 months, then she had to move to hawaii. Her cousin and his gf (who also livse in the same state as me) got together and were gonna suprise her by having a flight to here. she was supposed to leave this morning, but she had a huge fight with her mom and her mom said that if she found that she dissapeared, she would call the cops. and guess which police department she would probably call. mine. so kylie told me it's a no go.... it's really sad yea. but we're hopeing sometime in the next few weeks. airline tickets are hella cheap in 2 weeks ($350 for a round trip) so we're hopeing then. her mom pulled her out of school so it should be okay.

>>8
thanks, i'll keep that in mind. i'm gonna try and make her last few months the best EVER
>>9
thanks, i'm doing my best to make sure everything goes her way... i think i might call her mom now and explain the whole situation with her and the flight
>>10
i turned 17 2 weeks ago. she's turning 15 in 3 days, so basically 2 years apart (dont need to go scream pedo)
>>11
never heard of it. but maybe i'll go look it up.

It's really too bad that her Mother feels the need to lord over a dying person.

oooooooooh my fucking god. i dont know wether or not to be happy or to be pissed. i guess i'm feeling a little bit of both right now
Hawaiian doctors to put it simply, are incompitant. This whole time they had the wrong xrays tests and EVERYTHING. apperantly they didnt even really do many tests, they just put her on chemo. but omfg, i'm sooooo happy she's not dying, but so pissed they put her through this
