Hey /b/,
Has anyone else had cognitive behavioral therapy? I am gonna start to take it along with zoloft. Share your experiences.
HELLO HELLO, THERE ARE OTHER BOARDS THAN /b/ ON THE INTERNET
i think it's bullshit, Changing the way you think might change your moods, i would say give it a go
If you wanna know how it works:
= example: "Oh she dumped me, i must suck"..CBT:" We broke up, our relationship wasn't working out, i was for the best".
some bullshit like that. I did some free sessions, but it really costs much to continue..i dunno if i should.
>= example: "Oh she dumped me, i must suck"..CBT:" We broke up, our relationship wasn't working out, i was for the best".
Sounds like lying to yourself.
>>6 Well yeah, it's like Santa Claus for childre or God for adults..sometimes the lie works.
CBT helped me get over my fear of crowds.
Of course, any tampering with your thoughts is important to be careful with; it's important to be honest with yourself too, and not do anything retarded.

Yeah, it helped >>8 get over his fear of crowds.
On a serious note, I don't think cognitive-behavioral therapy works from an external source. In my personal experience, I had to experience something that would change my viewpoint on a particular issue. Nothing has ever worked out in my favor when I told myself I'd make it through all right.
It worked for me, but I had to have something trigger that train of thought. That and some willpower changed dramatically my self-perception.
That said, the will alone to do it just didn't work.
