Failing HS, Hard. (8)

I was supposed to graduate in 2007, but due to the circumstances I have only 6 credits needed to graduate and I don't have a physical HS to go to (That and I'll be turning 20 in October.)

The reason I'm so far behind has a lot to do with moving around so much, but mostly it's because during my normal sophomore and junior years of HS I became extremely depressed and unmotivated to do anything, even get out of bed. I missed a lot of school from that, and failed most of my classes.

I don't know what to do, I feel like such a failure. Everyone else can make it to school and graduate on time, but not me. Noo, I'm the loser who sits in her room all day lying in bed.

I need some help. I don't know what to do. I've heard something about online HS credits, but I don't know anything about that. My mom says she's going to put me on anti-depressants, but I don't want her to be to involved with my life right now. I feel extremely ashamed to be the child of someone who was valedictorian in both HS and college, you know?

I don't know. I'm not suicidal, but I just want to sleep for a long time.

You can get a GED. You should look into that. You basically have to pass five tests that say you have the equivalent of a highschool education, and then from there, 95% of colleges accept them, although they do require SAT's as well. You can also go to community college for a bit and reapply to "real" college.

All is not lost, OP. Although you do sound incredibly depressed. Speak to a doctor about anti-depressants if you must.

I'm like you but I'm a bit younger than you. I was too depressed to go to school and missed a lot of school. One day I was told I wasn't welcome at the school any more and to have a nice day.

So it's a year later now and I can't get into any other school. I really regret being so lazy and not going to school. First it started out as taking a day or two off a week to sleep. Then it was attending five weeks per semester.

Now all I do is sleep and browse the internet. Eventually I plan to get off my arse and do something about it.

So while you're at it can somebody help me with an Australian solution to OP's problem. We don't have a GED as far as I know.

I was also badly behind in High school, due to moving around around and being home schooled the first two years.

I ended up taking clases at the local community college for dual credit. Graduated ahead of time.

...but then I got behind in college due to continuing at the CC I started at, but then moving again and switching majors.

I've graduated high school 5 years ago, started college work 7 years ago, finally transferred to a full university last year, and technically I'm finally about to finish my junior year, though I'm only just about to start on my junior year courses.

I understand your situation, I became depressed in my final year of highschool and quit a few months into the year.

Now I'm two months into university and I'm already questioning why I came here, I don't really feel like elaborating, but I just feel so horrible right now.

Supposedly this test is really easy, I wouldn't know I'm an NZer.

get a GED and goto a community college or tech school after. it'll look fine on a resume'. places only care about higher education anyways.

Alright OP, here's what you do:

-Take a month to pick a career that you would like to pursue. Doesn't matter what, you can still do anything you want at this stage if you try hard enough.

-Get your GED. I know tons of people who say they're going to get it but never do. Don't be like them; just take the test and pass it.

-Look into communities colleges and try to plan a transfer to a state school afterward. CC should you let you acclimatize to the college environment without being too demanding.

-Get in shape, and take up some sort of martial art. Trust me, you'll feel much better if you do. Physical activity (especially cardio-vascular activity)releases calming endorphins.

Worrying about money? Get an easy enough job and save as much you can. Don't buy anything you don't need (look at torrent sites for that). Put a portion in the Forex (google it if you don't know what it is. At this point you can either subscribe to trading signals or learn how to exchange currencies profitably by yourself (time permitting).

Good luck my friend. You're still very young - you've got plenty of time to lift yourself up.

Truth.

OP, get your GED, it's the easiest thing.
