Alright, as I said before, I am failing my senior year of high school. Yes, yes, try not to ridicule me too much. I'm failing about 5 classes that I'll need to retake, 4 classes if I do well on a final. Anyways, I was wondering whether or not I should go on to take another year of high school and if not that, then what should/can I do?
Well, if you don't have much by way of brains going on, there's always gangs.
I'd imagine life to be difficult without a GED. I think it's definitely worth the extra year.
Taking the GED examination is a good idea, actually. I did a California equivalent called the CHSPE when I was 16, found it a cakewalk, and feel I saved two years of my life thanks to that. After that I went to community college for a couple of years, which let me transfer into a regular university without anyone caring that I didn't actually complete high school.
College/university is far more tolerable then high school, by the way. At least for me.
Yeah all you need is a GED to get into college
Do it. There's nothing wrong with retaking. I did, even though I didn't fail anything first time. You have to realise that you need to change what you did wrong this time around though.
GED, then Community college. Or you can finish your highschool stuff in community college, either would probably be faster than another year of highschool.
Take the GED. I'm about to take it. It'll save you an agonizing year in hormonal hell.
I wish I had just GED out of high school and started community college when I was 16 instead of wasting two more years of my life. My high school diploma sits in a box where it never sees the light of day and has never got me one job...EVER, not that my AA in Social Science got me anything either.
Not that I think school is a waste, you just do not need it for an IT career. People think you need a BA or BS is Computer Science or MIS for a tech career, I assure you...you do not. I love it when some asswipe comes in with a Electrical Engineering degree and he makes $30k less than I do and plus he does not what to do when a Windows XP blue screens! HA!
I love this job sometimes.
But back on topic, a high school diploma is a fucking waste. Sorry about that public education system.
For the record, I have no idea what GED is.
Seems we don't have nearly the same sort of education system over here in Australia. Here we finish highschool, and then progress straight to university. If you fail highschool, you go to TAFE (sounds kind of like community college), but I personally think it limits your choices thereafter. Hence in that case it would be more beneficial to repeat a year of highschool (assuming you want to get into a high end uni course).
Summer school is a good option, if you are only failing one or two subjects...
