Emotion serves both a individual and societal purpose. both are useful to their respective parties.

individually it may serve to encourage and discourage behavior and thought. Utilize it because you are discontent with how you currently are and because you recognize emotion as one avenue of change.

socially it allows others to better comprehend a situation without the mental tax of understanding the entirety of a person's thoughts/being. Utilize it because it can facilitate communication, and because you recognize there are things worth communicating over.

As for conjuring emotion, think of it simply as conditioning yourself to do some odd thing. If you wanted to sneeze every time you had an erection, you'd pour pepper down your nose everytime you were aroused. At first it is odd, requiring effort, and boring but eventually it becomes instinctual habit. In this same way, think of the emotion you want to feel, find it (it does exist within your brain, sections such as fear and lust etc), and just feel it without any reason to. then 'remember' what that felt like, remember where in your mind you had to go to feel it, and then go there when you hit your external queue for emotion action.
