I'm not going to say either way that your feelings are bad or good. What everyone is missing here is that you came on here to vent. While that is good so you don't keep the emotions inside, you have to move and see past them. Emotions whether good or bad can make you miss the whole picture. So you want to make it big keep trying, there are a handful of actors who before becoming actors were construction workers, they just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
Now that, that has been said, there is one more piece of advice I want to give you. Please don't give up on your dream you want to be a famous writer keep at it. You don't want to live your life full of should have would have could haves. It maybe hard now, but it will be easier. Who knows your room mate could win that contest, get it on the air and in a month it could be canceled. Everyone gets their time in the sun, yours might just take a little longer to come.
I know you might no want to do this but congratulate your friend you may feel he doesn't deserve this, but think he came up with an idea, and out of thousands upon thousands of people he was chosen. He deserves a pat on the back.
