Do 'perfect' people exist? (5)

I often wonder if 'perfect' people exist. I would define a perfect person as a person that has no sickness, either mental or physical, such as obesity, anorexia, skin conditions, stress and suicidal thoughts. Such people should be satisfied with their appearance and have no money issues. I wonder if such people exist and how they'd feel in their everyday lives.

For the most part, being such an ideal individual isn't something one is merely born into (though being born in somewhere like Africa probably wouldn't help). It is a conscious effort to better oneself, until such a state is achieved (and there's always room for improvement, though). What prevents most people from getting there is the lack of will to grow. Like any other animal, we prefer the security of keeping our life static. Stepping out of the bounds we know are safe and easy can be difficult.

Take, for example, such steps as moving out of the parent's home, getting a job, going to university, or even just getting in shape. These things can be quite overwhelming. We know that taking on these challenges will lead to the betterment of our lives, but we often can't help but put them off, possibly to the extent of not doing them at all. When we don't accomplish these things, we tend to try to justify ourselves. We even go so far as to change our very beliefs to do so. It can also be an issue of selfishness too. Perhaps one is simply too lazy to bother even trying.

Bettering oneself isn't merely taking new directions in life. In fact, most of one's growth is as an individual. One's actions are merely the effect of this. Internal growth is the most difficult. Changing your very being is not quick and easy. You might be discouraged from doing so, especially because of the whole "be yourself" mentality. But no, don't settle for being just your old self. Strive for improvement, there's always room for it. Be yourself, but better!

Oh, I just re-read your post, and it seems that I'm being relatively tangential in comparison. Oops. However, you seem to be putting too much emphasis on less important values. There are things that improve one's enjoyment of life far more, such as friendship, patience, and other, less tangible things.

Gah, this post took forever to write. Hope this helps!

Sickness accumulates throughout our lives. Sickness (or trauma) will eventually claim everyone. So there is no perfect person.
Unless you count newborn babies, and maybe some amount of children that have yet to be exposed to physical or psychological pathogens or trauma.
