atrocity committed by the South Korean soldiers in the Vietnam war (9)

This has long been an issue which was never brought up in pubic discussion in either countries,South Korea and Vietnam, that the South korean troops went with sum nefarious action on the vietnamese,a ruthless killing and raping spree followed by forcing the women into serving for the soldiers as sex slaves in brothels they exclusively operated.

This kind of story sounds pretty much familiar to me about mass genocide on the South Koren conducted by the then japanese militaristic gervornment in the WW2.

I got dumbfounded when I came by the information and made me wonder how The South Korean gvmt managed to keep this abhorrent act in secret and make Japanese look as bad people as despicable barbarians as all.I came across sum article about this in search for details of Japanese army at that time.

Supposedly it resulted in producing at least more than 5000 half-Korean,half-Vetnamese children. And so for there hasnt been any apologies on the government level as well.

Did you guyz all know about this??

I don't regret, It made 5000 beautiful halfies because of Korean blood (they must feel privileged), rather than pure ugly viets. And it was war against the commies whom the Koreans have grudge against.

And I don't like the fact that Viet women come to Korea nowadays to marry Korean men thus uglying the nation.

And other thing, the Korean Army was the most effective during the Viet War more than the US Army, and they were fighting for a good cause. Maybe it would be a less fucked up nation than it is now if we won.

Vietnam was just about the last time that the South Koreans were friendly towards us. It all went to hell afterwards.

This is news?

The sky is blue, fish swim in the sea, and soldiers go on killing and raping sprees.

Every army commits these things, and believing otherwise only makes the world a more miserable place.

Hmm, some part of our planet has become as miserable a place as you think it would be. Have you ever heard of a book entitled "So Far from the Bamboo Grove" was banished from some school in America, because it discribes how South Korean did horrible things when at war... Perhaps they are brainwashed to believe no sky is blue and fish fly in the sky. Anyway, it's worth knowing that there are people who think they are always victims and the others are always raiders, in my opinion.

Korean super-nationalism and a cult of victimhood seem to be empowering Koreans to be this way. If Korea had not been the whipping child throughout history (by first the Chinese, later the Japanese, and then America) they would not be able to take such an ultra nationalist viewpoint without criticism. However, because of their victimhood, they can act with impunity, claiming that any attempt to subdue them is oppression.

Koreans are not the way that some ignorants claim them to be.

Most of the Japanese posts here, I agree are primarily slanted or downright lies. But there is an observable trend of nationalism in Korea, from claims of kendo being derived from kumdo, and Japanese stealing the concept of sushi from Korea. Even between South and North Korea, nationalism and tensions run high, just watch the battles between pro-North and pro-South bloggers. In a most notable incident the manga, "Hate the Korea Wave" while a book that glosses over the hardship that Japan brought Korea during war, while embellishing the benefits, such treatment of history was never addressed directly. It was met mainly with counter books asserting the inferiority of Japanese culture and heavy handed blatant racism. Many of the Korean critics of the book, have been charged of, instead of pointing out disparities in the history, just plain opted to lash out at the Japanese in an ultra-nationalist form. Many critics have been charged of never reading the book period. To claim that there isn't a surge in Korean ultra-nationalism being at least expressed by, at least, a visible segment (minority or not), is untruthful.

In addition, people are hesitant to say anything bad about Korea. Unlike China, which regularly it criticized for human-rights violations, environmental violations and so on, (as China's crimes against it's own people during Mao's regime, and other horrible things done, are well known), in addition to China's great power and wealth, makes it a wide target. Korea on the other hand has seen much oppression during it's time, and with perhaps the exception of some very distant infighting during the three kingdom period, has mostly been on the receiving end of oppression. It's difficult because of this, to criticize Korea's actions. Some choose to do so anyways, and unfortunately, most of them, like the Japanese, are pretty racist. This unfortunately casts a sense that any criticism of Korea is then racist, because those that are not racist, are highly adverse to stating it.

The the overall picture is, that there is a surge in nationalism, at least being visibly expressed, and that the only people willing to say anything are blatantly racist. The few that aren't are assumed to be racist by default.
