There've been many articles in the recent years about Sino-Japanese relations; one one side, the Chinese seem not to be able to get over the war atrocities that happened more than 60 years ago, and on the other side, the Japanese seem to deny that such things ever happened.
Is it really true that the actions of Japan during WW2 is not really elaborated on in detail in Japanese textbooks and the media?
I believe students in Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia and Singapore learn about the Rape of Nanking, the use of comfort women, and the local massacres of those suspected to be Communists, etc., it's an intergral part of the recent history syllabus. But much of the controversy today seems to be centred only on accusations of Japanese atrocities in China, with many Japanese supposedly denying that such events had really happened.
So what do the Japanese really believe in? Do you accept that your country's military had done wrong things in the past, or do you think it's all a sham fabricated by China, as well as all the other countries invaded by the Japanese forces during WW2?
Yes, I believe them. The Japanese have done horrible things in China, it is only natural for them through their attitude and pride to deny such actions, more or less bury them in the past. A friend of mine once told me about a couple of japanese high school girls breaking down crying at a chinese memorial because they did not know about the things that where done by their own people their. To me, burying the truth is the worst thing they could have done. This way, the nation has had no way to heal itself in honor.
No,it is just Chinese propaganda. They got no proof of it.
Where the 300000bodys disappeared?
The Iternational safety committee sent the letter of thanks to the Japanese army because they recovered the peace of Nanjing.
Why? because they killed 300000 Chinese? (lol
> They got no proof of it.
Photographic evidence, mass graves, the testimony of foreign observers and the Japanese themselves?

> The Iternational safety committee sent the letter of thanks to the Japanese army because they recovered the peace of Nanjing.
You mean the "International Committee for Nanking Safety Zone"? Perhaps it's because they were there in the city at the time ('international' referred to the membership, not the location), and being slaughtered themselves was a distinct possibility if they didn't suck up to the Japanese Army. You don't complain to the people holding a katana to your throat.
China suffered civilian casualties during the second Sino-Japanese War (about 16 million) than any other nation/demographic during World War II. It was a terrible, bloody war. Many Chinese starved from the famine and mass-displacement caused by brutal scorched-earth tactics used by both Chinese and Japanese. The Chinese government was defending itself tooth-and-nail, and it would do everything in its power to keep Japan from profiting from China, even at the expense of its own citizens' lives. The Japanese, on the other hand, fed up from the flooded rivers, obliterated crops, and guerilla insurgents, would capture villages and then proceed to kill everyone in it, burning it to the ground.
Every nation that was significantly involved in World War II has a lot of innocent blood on its hands, but it's a sad fact that China, along with the USSR, suffered the most from this 'collateral damage' as you might call it. All of the major forces involved could be accused of numerous war crimes. World War II is a story of nations and 'nationalism' in their most desperate and beast-like means, the story of out-dated ideals clashing with the cruel reality of the modern industrial world. that's the lesson to be learned; it doesn't matter how good of a person you are; nationalism that justifies violent acts of war makes demons of us all.
About comfort women problem
Korea and China (America and Canada also) must show evidence.
???
・There was a Japanese prostitution Broker at WW2. (Broker brought comfort women to The War)
・ (If there was a Japanese Broker )Broker’s relationship to Japanese government.
・ (If there was a Japanese Broker )Broker’s sex slave treatment.
・ (If there was a Japanese Broker )Broker’s crime. Abduction…..etc
・ Who got profit?
Japan admits
・Buy prostitutions.
・Give them houses. → but circumstance.
・take interviews to comfort women →avoid crimes. Abduction ….etc
・Health check.
Material evident
Korean Brokers for prostitution.http://www010.upp.so-net.ne.jp/japancia/index.htm
Korean AD for prostitution.
→Many Japanese are thinking about all Japanese had no idea and impossible to do prostitution business.
Comfort women’s salary at least 300 yen/month
Japanese Military 5yen/month
House price 1000yen
Korean prostitution AD ( AD for UN military from Korea City Office)
http://bbs.enjoykorea.jp/tbbs/read.php?board_id=thistory&page=2&nid=1839518
It is strange?
Korean side says 50,000 ~300,000 women’s sex salve, abductions……etc
→ No evident, even though 50,000 ~300,000 women involved.
After 36 years (WW2) no one say about Japanese Military had done sex slave.
That’s started from Asahi Media (China and Korean control) in Japan.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9npZg-DulU
Korea said Japanese military vanished all evidence and witness….etc after WW2.
→Some Japanese think about that’s impossible.
Japanese evident show Prostitution broker → Korean( They can not find Japanese)
Some Japanese say, it is same Korean prostitution system today in the other countries.
Dude, I'm sorry, but Japanese media (including asahi tv) is not controlled by the Chinese and Koreans, that's a mad conspiracy-theory.
was the nanking massacre pictures real?
>>10
Yes. Who could possibly fake them back then and why?
There were eyewitness from foreign countries there at the time as well, one of which was a even Nazi diplomat who tried to protect as many citizens as he could.
>>6 ---That was well written. The only thing I would add is the subject of learning from the past. Americans & Germans should celebrate their ability to criticize their nation's past. I pity the Japanese people who are in power, who cannot allow the truth to set them free. If they keep these wounds concealed, the whole country will eventually become sick.
It's not really a matter of who's overreacting and who is neglecting when it comes to Sino-Japanese relations; Both obviously have some dialogue to address. The healing/moving on can begin only when they start talking to each other on an ongoing basis. (um, like true neighbors?)
>Americans & Germans should celebrate their ability to criticize their nation's past.
Good for people living in the land of Native Americans!
>I pity the Japanese people who are in power, who cannot allow the truth to set them free.
Why do you think think that Japanese people avoiding the truth? Isn't this one sided-view? Do you think that Chinese people can openly discuss about the Tiananmen Square incident? Speaking of the past, how about the recent past? Less money was spent on the investigation of the 9/11 attack than on the Clinton scandal. Why did WTC7, which was NOT hit by a plane, fall the way it did? Are American mainstream media openly discussing about the mystery?
COMFORT WOMEN ISSUE
> Less money was spent on the investigation of the 9/11 attack than on the Clinton scandal.
Because, you know, nobody saw a fucking plane fly into Monica Lewinsky.
Some things need a bit more investigation than others.

here here
The photos are fake. The chinese photoshopped it all!! You will not believe the amount of Adobe programs they pirated in WWII.
Barbaric acts of Japanese emperor which prohibited a Korean strange custom.
(During Japanese annexation)
1. [A trial stomach]
In Korea that "is only the tool that a woman bears a child" "a tool (a woman) must not be a defective article". Thus, I let a man saying with "a kind man" violate a daughter to prove that it "is this street, the body which can become pregnant" and let I am in condition to have become pregnant and put a sedan chair. Korea governor-general's office prohibited it so that a right of inheritance of a born child became a problem.
2. [a lick shit]
A folk remedy to judge that I have human feces, and physical condition of the person improves if the taste is bitter, and physical condition turns worse if sweet. It was forbidden after Japan-Korea merger to be in sanitary.
3. [Defecation on a street]
A figure of the common people playing the stool in the British traveler's diary that visited Korea of last years of Rhea Dynasty is recorded. The Korea governor-general's office gave an order to prohibit defecation on a street many times, but there was not the effect.
4. [A weak constitution dance]
Traditional arts laugh of the people whom I pretend to be a physically handicapped person and a sick person exaggeratedly and make a physically handicapped person and a sick person laughing stock, and watched it. It was prohibited from it being preferable for a Japanese sense with Japan-Korea merger promptly, but revived after independence.

5. [Topless Chima Chokoli]
According to the reputation, it is the Chima Chokoli which let a chest crop out.
Because wearing was forgiven only by the woman who delivered the eldest son who was an inheritor, it was a pride for a Korean woman before Japanese merger.

Right now, the international community has generally agreed that the Rape of Nanking and comfort women all happened. That is not the question. The question is for apologies, and possibly payment to the families
Hear, hear.
Frankly, I just hope that Abe and his cronies just shut their big, smelly holes after this US resolution and don't try to make some kind of silly rebuttal. If they just learn to shut up, I think that's progress from Abe's administration.
fuck the japs.
>>25 yeah because they all take physics in high school. unlike some other so called advanced nation.
What I want to see is a great movie made depicting the brutalities of the Second Sino-Japanese war in every historic accuracy, but do it so we end up rooting for the Japanese soldiers committing it, whilst still conscious of the immense destruction, brutality, and horror of it all. In other words, a movie that lets us get into the heads of the soldiers who committed the acts. It's when we've gone there that we can really start to understand the situation, I think. Not some weepy, Schindler's list style drama or documentary that leaves us feeling bad or angry. That's really lame.
Something that smacks of real life is what I want to see. I think that's the best way to calm both the ghosts in Yasukuni and the people who suffered under them during their lives. But what kind of film maker could make a film that awesome, that it manages to capture that mentality, whilst still analyzing, and being critical of it?
That movie would be great....but the Chinese and Korean nationalists would end up bitching about it because it portrays the Japanese soldiers as humans and not mindless killing machines. The Japanese nationalists would bitch that a movie like this even exists.
> a movie that lets us get into the heads of the soldiers who committed the acts.
That's not difficult, institutionalized racism isn't exactly complex.

You should get that right nostril checked, then.
Maybe there's some blockage causing your aromatic imbalance.
maybe that happened(well i dont know), but it shouldnt be as many women as china say were raped. well, u know what china is like... they do anything to steal money from japan. i guess their level of morality is so low. u know they even showed a cruel animal hunting to the public, and some parents were happy to show their children the hunting...
i tried to join the IJA but they wouldn't let me cause is wasnt j.
(-_-)
Either you're over 70 years old or you're thinking of a different IJA. Unless you're not talking about the Imperial Japanese Army.
(._.)
this is real, from what my grandfather told me, but that was before, i won't hate japanese people for this because this was something done by their ancestors, not them.
I don't mean to condone the Nanjing massacre any more than I mean to criticize a historical event, but it's interesting to think that if you blanket-bomb a city and kill 150,000 - 200,000 people, it's called "strategic bombing" but if you go in and do the same thing with infantry, it's a massacre.
Just something to consider. War is hell, as they say.
Actually, I think that Chinese people fucking deserve it. Hmong people HAET Chinese because they drove us into the US and turned 90% into Ghetto Fags. I really think that they really fucking deserved it.
What did you just say? please speak some English.
I CANTOU SPEAKU ENGRISHU!
Hey, people down there suffered from Japanese massacre/attacks too. Maybe not in Miao, but down in Vietnam and further down in Indonesia they sure did.
Another thing, don't call us miao. That's like calling us niggers.
As if I care about them. Talk about the French when you're talking about Vietnam and Indonesia.
If you don't care what happens to the Vietnamese who are conquered by the French, than why should I care what happens to the Hmong/Miao who are conquered by the Han? I've barely even heard of them.
At least the Vietnamese have made recognizable contributions to world culture, which is measured in the number of restaurants they produce in foreign countries.

The Vietnamese also managed to help the world at large by teaching humility to a superpower, even if that lesson dissolved after ~15 years.
