Brack Obama (28)

Why do you vote blacks for presidents?

2 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-10 20:02 ID:Heaven

I didn't. But not because he's black. I just haven't heard him say anything with real substance to it. He's all flash and charisma, and that's not enough to run a country.

> He's all flash and charisma

Well, that didn't stop George W. Bush from running the country...

4 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-11 21:36 ID:Heaven

True, but it did stop Gore and Kerry.

I work with several intelligent Black people, and all four of them are supporters of Hillary.

They resent the idea that they're supposed to vote for Obama because he's (half) Black and have gratitude for the economic prosperity of the Clinton years.

6 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-14 04:53 ID:Heaven

Well I work with eight-nine intelligent Black people, some of whom I regularly call 'bro' and greet with a fist bump, and they all support Ron Paul, SO THERE!

7 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-14 08:26 ID:2sFLfuYM

I don't work with any black people but I listen to Mos Def sometimes and the only time I ever voted was for McCarthy in '72, so yeah.

8 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-14 16:38 ID:TnXBDCge

I'm not voting for Obama because he's not black enough.

9 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-14 18:06 ID:Heaven

Sorry, old bean, but you need to be at least 3/4ths black to get this vote.

10 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-15 05:56 ID:bYULahIv

I'm just one person.

One vote doesn't matter.

11 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-16 15:33 ID:oOWvgND8

Black here and can't stand Obama. To me, the man just came out of freaking no where for this race.

I'm blacker than you. I'm not voting for Obama because I'm so black he's just looks white to me.

13 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-25 18:17 ID:RyW/v8dJ

I'm voting for Obama because Hilary Clinton is a woman.

14 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-25 19:10 ID:jLdA4aW/

I don't much agree with obama's stance on NAFTA

In which direction?

As for me, free trade agreements which impose all sorts of arbitrary demands on the weaker parties remind me all too much of the unequal treaties which the europeans gave to the asian nations which they couldn't directly, militarily conquer.
On the other hand though, the populist attitude towards protectionism that Mr. Obama takes is also worrying. Fuck American jobs, it's 2008. We aren't going to have an automobile industry any more, ship's sailed. And this is largely a good thing.

& that reminds me of another thing about Barack Obama. Populists are terrifying. s'far as I've seen, postiive change comes from stuffy social democrats, not rabblerousers.

That looked very different in the post preview. Huh.

Anywhos, I really do think this should be a part of our political discourse. Why is his middle name a common Arabic name? And, no, I will not accept simply that he was named after his father who in turn got the middle name Hussein from his father who changed his own name to Hussein after converting to Islam while in Zanzibar. Actually the only answer I will accept is that Mr. Obama is a terrorist, a Muslim, and that he hates America.

Husayn, Hussein, Hussain, Husain, Hosein (Arabic:حسین Turkish: Hüseyin), is an Arabic name which is the diminutive of Hasan, meaning "good" or "handsome". It is commonly given as a male given name among Muslims, after Husayn ibn Ali. In some Persian sources the form Háosayn is used.

P.S. Hillary's maiden name is Rodham which is shared with Eric Rodham Chandler, bassist of the comedy pop-punk band "Bowling for Soup", who on their 2006 album The Great Burrito Extortion Case recorded a song titled "I'm Gay." This is indisputable proof that she is in fact a lesbian

I think I would be more likely to vote for someone with the name Barack Háosayn Obama than Barack Hussein Obama. It just seems more interesting.

21 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-29 04:31 ID:iyZA256s

For the Democratic candidates, there are a big stupid reason to be voting for either one, yet those reasons are very popular.

For Obama, there's the fact that he's black.

For Clinton, there's the fact that she's her husband's wife.

Neither is a good reason to be voting for a candidate for president.

22 Name: Citizen : 2008-03-29 21:23 ID:Heaven

from ap story about rev. wright:
"Obama has condemned Wright's remarks denouncing America for
allegedly racist and genocidal acts."

i think i've somehow managed to cross over into some sort of alternate universe where racism and genocide are not only acceptable but suggesting that they are not is deeply offensive.

oh

> For Clinton, there's the fact that she's her husband's wife.

That's not fair, every politician in the American senate got their political capital that way.

> For Obama, there's the fact that he's black.

Well, that's how Bill Clinton got in too.

Clinton had nothing to do with the economic prosperity. The office of the President has nothing to do with the economy, whatsoever. Period.
