"I think I have lost my salvation:(

I sinned greatly against God by purchasing a game I rented first, then evenually bought and several believers on here told me not to purchase but I gave in to the temptation and purchased it anyway. I played the game through rental and eventually purchased it. After awhile I started to realized that I sinned through Bible reading and I began to weep and beg God and at first I contemplated on selling the game and my system but I decided to give the system away to a family member who lives with me. She now has the game and system. I'm wondering first if I did the right thing and if it would have been better for me to sell both the game and the system and get rid of it? I feel like I sinned against God so much over the last 2 years that I have run out of chances and I feel really scared now that I may not be saved.

I want to apologize to my brethern and sisters on here who warned me not to buy it."

Religion is very cruel indeed. It frightens me that had we been born into a religious family like the above poor soul's, we would've been brainwashed into cowering before God like mindless drones, a God who is supposedly "love." This is simply sickening.

I'd agree with you that being born into a religious family A: shortens your viewpoint and B: makes you God fearing. My argument.

Other people don't decide who God is for you. You do that. God is not just a religion that you have to hole yourself into. God is not just a big entity, but an idea of rights and wrongs in the biggest picture possible.

Thus, so as to find YOUR idea of God...

What do you find to be right and wrong? Why? Are there exceptions to these things? Why do YOU think this? What do other people think of the situation? Why do THEY think this (that last one is important, because if it roots down to someone else telling them that it was so they are not the most reliable source. If they branch it off to the fact that it's "God's Will", ask them why they believe it to be that way. Keep attributing like that and you eventually get to their OWN ideas of God, SEE? God IS personal in that respect!)

Yeah.

So we agree that religion is absurd, so the question is what other widely-held beliefs are likely to be false? It would be good to purge these in order to become more rational.

My only criticism here is this man or woman gives it away and considers selling it.
If you come into possession of a large quantity of heroin (and believe drugs are wrong and bad) do you get rid of it by selling it?

RP

> May I ask, is the game you speak of 'Saints Row 2'?

OP

> How did you know that?

Purchasing that crap is definitely a sin. He should feel bad.

Religions that have evolved the addage of Hell have developed devices that will turn out a profit and make everyone go to hell in one way or another. Those who think they are too good to go to hell are too full of pride, those who try to help others to help themselves are greedy, et cetera. Look at Deadly Sins, they're designed for entrapment. I'm not gonna start with Scientology, it's just a clusterfuck psuedo-religion that normal people know isn't healthy.
