"The European Union and five other industrial powers plan to build the world's first futuristic reactor that would generate energy through nuclear fusion in an attempt to harness the source of the sun's power and tame it for humanity."
"Washington backing Tokyo's bid in what was seen as a payback for French opposition to the Iraq war."
Can you smell spider-man showing up?
Haven't they been trying this for a while now (lol donut)? Or do they now believe they'll finally have a system that generates more electricity than it eats?
Maybe we can fuse Spiderman and The Fly.
Apparently the JT-60 is able to produce more than it eats, with a power amplification of 1.25.

Thanks for the details. :)
Happened in 1998. Oooh boy am I out of the loop.
The Fusion FAQ was last updated in 1995, when they were still trying to break even. Someone needs to go and update that FAQ, the JT isn't the only one that passed the 1.0 mark.
Or maybe FAQs have become obsolete and it's Wikipedia all the way from now on?
