"Researchers at NASA's Marshall Manned Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, have almost completed building of a device that could eventually reduce gravitational attraction."

Finally... my year 2000's flying car!

I don't know. According to the article this only applies to objects directly above the device (if it works). Now why would that be, do you think?

But if it proves effective, that would be rather neat.

No traction still makes turning corners difficult. No flying car for you.

Who needs corners when one can fly? :)

But is it anti-gravity?

It could be an induced weak/EM effect. I mean, why does it require a rotating superconductor?

"Noever [NASA guy] suggested that gravity may have a natural frequency, far higher than X rays or microwaves, which would explain why it penetrates all known materials. A superconducting disc could resonate and downshift the frequency to a lower level where it could be blocked by normal matter."
