hello,
Is jap unicode for win98 impossible as they say cause my friend from japan tried to send me a small file of her ,a zipped picture of her. i cant download it at all. discuss
tell her to rename the file using a-z letters
duh
lol win98
>>tell her to rename the file using a-z letters
>>duh
I know that but is there anyway besides that and not upgrading my Os
Windows 98 has no full support for Unicode. Windows 2000/XP does. End of discussion.
how about a software that automatically renames a file depending on the unicode supported by the dling system good idea for design thesis hm.............
limited usefulness, since everyone with a brain and/or wallet is on XP already
addendum: or 2k
thanks for the help+sarcasm. no choice but to go japan and see her face to face
How is she not able to rename the file?
So I take it you can't simply right-click on the file and go Save As?
This functionality exists in Thunderbird... in a lot of web-based email clients, this is provided by the web browser... and I'm pretty sure Outlook/OE (shudder) support it.
Or is this some other medium other than email? Perhaps an alternate means of sending the file is in order.
As others have pointed out, Win98 can't support Unicode (a.k.a UTF8), simply because the filesystem used has no concept of it. The Japanese version uses a slightly different filesystem AFAIK, and so is able to do non-ASCII chars in the file name.
Post the zip here, we'll extract the file for you.
Oh oh oh, yeah, >>14 got it.
Just upload the damn zip already.
