Paypal sucks! They freeze accounts so that they can eke out a profit.
It's time to count down the days until Google Payments is made public.
HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER
2GET
Keeping my fingers crossed.
Now, I like Google as much as the next guy, but seriously, you're counting on them not to freeze accounts? Have you never spoken to anyone getting burned by Google Ads?
Someone has been doing a lot of illegal and unethical activities~
I've never had a problem with paypal. Granted i haven't used it much anyway.
Competition is good. So I welcome Google Payments.
Personally I'm waiting for online interac/debit card payments, https://www.rbcroyalbank.com/onlinebanking/bankingusertips/payments/interaconline_public.html
Debit is huge in Canada since all our banks cooperate.
My only complaint with Paypal is not with the company themselves... but rather with all the scammy bastards who try sending account cancellation notices to me.
enigmail@mozdev.org
is frequently spammed with this crap -- and I find myself (in the Mailman moderation frontend) fowarding them across to spoof@paypal.com
.
Sadly they've started with places like Amazon now, which don't have the very handy spoof@
email alias. :-/
Maybe if you'd stop posting your email address in plain text online, you wouldn't get so much scam spam. :P
Maybe... maybe they'll just slap together a bunch of dictionary words and discover my email address anyway. :-)
It doesn't take a literary genius to spot the dictionary words in redhatter (a) gentoo (o) org
(see, I censored it this time) -- there's two in that example, a colour and a noun. :-)
In the case of the Enigmail list... the address is displayed in plaintext on the front page of the Enigmail site (see link above), as well as on the news.mozilla.org
NNTP server, and numerous other places on the web.
It's not paypal's job to be my mommy or daddy and tell me what is ethical or not. That was up to my parents, and if they failed, Paypal is not going to be the ones who succeed. The idea that they can be sanctimonious pricks like that, while fucking over legitimate clients, screams of backwards ethics.
True... but at the same time, they have a responsibility to ensure they're not condoning inethical activity.
It's a grey area in some cases. A balance between turning a blind eye, and getting paranoid.
> they have a responsibility to ensure they're not condoning inethical activity.
Just like banks won't let you withdraw money to pay for porn?
>>13 Well no... that would be incorrect.
For starters, there's nothing wrong with buying porn. :-) (Unless it's of young kids -- then there's an issue!)
A bank shouldn't concirn itself with what you are doing with the money. It should, however, try to protect itself from being involved in fraud though -- so if an account is shown to be being used in fraudulent activity, it should be shut down.
Paypal won't let you buy or sell porn:
> You may not use PayPal in the purchase or sale of, or receipt of donations for, any obscene or sexually oriented goods or services.
http://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/use/index_frame-outside&ed=mature
Well... I don't explain that then.
I'd say the executives are so up themselves that women can't stand them -- so they reason that if they can't get any, neither should you. ;-)
>so they reason that if they can't get any, neither should you.
Isn't that always the way of it? ;)
Why on earth would you want to BUY porn anyway?
I don't have a problem with paypal. You have to sign the terms of use, the contract. It is not like I read every terms with every service I take, especially not with freeware. But if it involves my money, I'll be sure to read them.
The only reason I can think of for saying Paypal sucks is that they changed the terms of use without notice and then burn you.
Also, it sucks that they loot the debits off of your account. But hey, that's in the terms of use!
I love terms of use \(^0^)/

^^ Aren't Paypal and Ebay run by the same people?
Sort of... eBay bought out PayPal a few years back.
