does anyone know of a good freeware mp3/wav to midi converter?
Is something like that even possible? It sounds horribly error-prone.
it is. I've found a few but there are always notes off and everything (even though the original file is pure piano). Hoping someone could help me find a better program or something ^^

It's like the holy grail, everybody has heard of it but no one has a copy. ;)
I've researched this quite a bit a while ago.
While there isn't one that can perfectly do, say, a popular pop song, since it would have vocals and a couple of different instruments, finding one to convert just one piano okay enough shouldn't be a problem.
I can't remember which ones I've tried, or which were better, but I know some of them worked better than others.
I would just recommend downloading and trying out a few different ones, if you have the time.
Some I remember are:
**WaveToMidi: http://harmonicbits.com/en/soundpr/w2m.html**
***intelliScore Polyphonic WAV to MIDI: http://www.intelliscore.net/**
Also, for editing nearly perfect midis:
**Anvil Studio: http://www.anvilstudio.com/**
**Cakewalk Pro Audio 9: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7136,00.asp**
lol, wakabamark
thankies!
