Promise's's's broken controller (3)

anyone managed to successfully install a promise ultra 100 tx2 IDE controller under win XP (non 64) ?

I've seen proof of it working under everything older, but making a single harddrive run through it without said drive falling over is beyond me, even with the correct install proc, bios rewrite and what have you.

although the fact that dabs no longer sells it is a bit more indicative of the situation
