Unit in safeguard mode (9)

Hi all. I need some help regarding my miniDV camera. I have a JVC GR-DVM55U camera and it suddenly displays a "unit in safeguard mode". Afterwards, I could not eject the miniDV cassette anymore and the unit wont display anything but the "unit in safeguard mode". I tried removing the battery several times, nothing worked.

Why not contact the manufacturer?

The warranty expired long ago and I am not willing to pay for the repairs.
