LCD thinness with none of the blurring. Yum. Basically a CRT with an electron emiter for each pixel instead of one for the whole screen. Must still be damned heavy.

Nice!

>Must still be damned heavy.

From what I read they will be less heavy than CRTs.

What I don't find is radiation levels - do they emit less than CRTs?

Power consumtion is also a key spec that doesn't seem to be mentioned. CRTs would probably be much more common now without the savings in monitor power consumtion when using LCDs.

Blurring? You mean as in motion blur caused by low response times? Because generally LCDs look sharper that CRTs.

> Basically a CRT with an electron emiter for each pixel

Actually, there's one per sub-pixel, which is pretty crazy.

Wow, what is the deal with this absurd site? Did some random guy on the internet make a fan site for a display technology? It's even packed full of apostrophe errors.

After looking for information about them, it seems that the electrons emitted are of much lower energy than the ones in a CRT - probably on the order of a few electron volts, instead of the many kilo-electron volts used in a CRT. That should mean there's no bremsstrahlung whatsoever being produced. Of course, the main advantage of this is not that there's less exposure for the user, because CRTs have always shielded the bremsstrahlung produced, but rather that you don't need to bother making the shielding any longer.

Okay, I'm sold. :)
