ok, here's the deal. i used my laptop right before i left my house earlier today and it was working fine. when i got home, the screen was blank and it did not respond to any keystrokes and was not connected to my wireless network. i tried turning it off and then on again and the power light came on, the fan started up, and then nothing. nothing on the screen, no hard drive activity light, no beeping...
any ideas what might be wrong with it?

Try removing the battery, unplug all cords, and let it sit for a few minutes.

Was it capable of beeping before? Some desktop PC's lack internal speakers (mine had none), I don't know how it's with Laptopts though. Also, check if the Laptop is still under warranty.

it used to beep when the bios password prompt appeared on the screen.
and it's not under warranty.

No hard drive activity light may mean that the HD's busted. Did you hear any clicking in the HD beforehand? Have you had any problems with overheating?

No warranty really sucks if it's a major problem.

It can't be the monitor, he said there's no HD activity.

no bios password prompt means it's not even getting to the point where it tries to read the hard drive.

and the hard drive is fine, i hooked it up to another computer and got some files off it.
