I plugged it into my mic port on the front, the program pops up, asking what it is, I click on microphone. I try to record on sound recorder, it doesnt work, I try to talk on skype, it doesnt work. I try the multi port headphone port, I click microphone, still nothing. I try the microphone port on the back, still doesnt work. So I try on my windows 98 computer upstairs, it works. Problem is, I need internet so it has to work on my downstairs WindowsXP computer. It is obviously the computers fault. I did check the mic volume too, and it's all the way up. Any ideas on what I should do?? any help would be greatly appreciated.
check the master volume control. is your line in muted?
The mike volume control, is the checkbox on or off?
>>4 The mute box? Its not checked(its not muted).
Maybe the soundcard is hosed?
I would try swapping the Win98 soundcard with the XP soundcard.
>>6 Are they're any other signs that the soundcard is hosed?? Because when I blow into the mic, I can hear it through my speakers, but when I talk nothing.
You don't know how to change a card?
>>8 I have no idea. But what other signs that it is the problem, because Im not sure if it is...
have you chosen 'microphone' as the recording device in Recording Controls?
