There's no compatibility to fuck up, AACS is designed exactly with this kind of thing in mind. At least the original plan called for revoking all software player keys every six months, no matter if they had been compromised or not. I am not sure if they are doing that yet, but that's what it was designed to do.
And it's very easy to make attacks like the ones used to find this key much, much harder. You can obviously never make them impossible, but assuming that if you could do it once, you can do it forever, is highly naïve.
