Sup Tech,

Okay, so I installed a new wireless adaptor into my Dell Dimension 8300, and after putting it back together, I hooked it all back up and... now it won't turn on. Power cord seems fine... didn't touch anything except the PCI slot that I put the adapter in. Could I have done something wrong?

You may have loosened a wire somewhere unknowingly. You may also have fried one or more components with static discharge if you didn't take proper precautions before handling the PC innards. Alternatively, it may simply be a compatibility issue with the Dell. Try taking out the new component and seeing if it boots.

Took out the adaptor, the computer works just fine... but as soon as I put it in... phhhhffft. I guess it's just a matter of calling tech support.

OP here:

The adaptor is a D-Link Wireless WDA-2320 Desktop Adaptor.

Make sure you connected the antenna and/or power leads to the wireless card. They usually have at least one wire you have to connect.
