I'm looking for some sexy PC goggles. Like, ones that I can hook up and they can be my screen, not like, the ones that make the screen 3d, although I'm quite interested in that and more information on that would be greatly appreciated. Are there things like what I'm looking for? Do they work for Linux? And do the 3d goggles work for Linux? Any information or links on any of this would be appreciated.

I saw these on the blogotubes recently:

http://www.scalar.co.jp/teleglass/t4/ (in japanese)

Those are apparently 640x480, and take NTSC video input.

134,400 yen. First link says that comes to $1,150 in US currency. There are probably several others that are cheaper (there's a T3 model that does 320x240 for around 103,000), but you specifically said "sexy goggles", and these I FUCKING DO WANT.

Waiting for HD resolution, will buy if it hits 1080.

They do nothing.

From guessing, and making numbers up, that would require displays with around 2500+ pixels/inch. (assuming the displays in the T4s are around 1 cm tall) You're basically comparing with full size LCD screens, and hoping for the tech to shrink by a factor of 25 - and that's a lot.

OTOH, assuming 1 cm tall displays would make the resolution of those around 1200 dpi already. Pretty impressive.

Damn, now I really want a pair...

Yes.

I use metric, and don't know shit about your Olde English units. But like it or not, things like TV screens and resolutions are specified in inches, so that's what you have to use if you want to communicate effectively. It sucks, but what can you do?

Tell Uncle Sam to grow a pair and switch to metric (saving billions of taxpayer dollars as a result)?

Would be great, and really wwish he would, but all of the records and things in America are kept in the Old English system, and it would take decades to convert. And of course, as we all know, the majority of Americans are apathetic, so that's never going to happen.

You've already lost space missions to Mars because of resistance to change.
Everyone else switched, and the only problem is that the US is still holding the world back.

or tell the rest of the world to grow a few brain cells and use the units people have been using for hundreds of years instead of inventing all new ones because counting is too hard.

You mean... metric units?

Hey, keep your inches, feet, yards, fathoms, rods, chains, furlongs, miles, leagues, rods and hogsheads as long as you want, ya hillbilly.
I'll just laugh while you keep paying for it.

The metric system is centuries old.

> newfag

You see, you've just revealed yourself to be a 'newfag'.
I love irony.

"The idea of a metric system has been attributed to John Wilkins, first secretary of the Royal Society in 1668."

"Later development of the English system continued by defining the units by law in the Magna Carta of 1215, and issuing measurement standards from the then capital Winchester. Standards were renewed in 1496, 1588 and 1758."

That is all.

OP here... Wow, surprised it ended up this sort of conversation, but hey, that's cool. I just wanted to thank the people who came up with links, that is precicely what I have been looking for. I was told by someone that this sort of thing would cause too much eye strain, but thankfully, he was wrong... Now I just need so save up the money and get a pair, and find some justification for myself as to why my current screen isn't good enough.
