Hey /tech/ anyone know the smallest external hard drive I can buy for $100? Mine no longer works.
round up an old IDE and slap in into an external case - that's $35 total right there. Otherwise check the sales ads online/newspaper and the secondhand market.
I think he wants one that's physically small.
I remember there was one by Western Digital... called "passport" or something...
I have a WD EHD, it's nice, quiet, and quite reasonably priced.
Haven't tried the passports though.
The only disadvantage is it's probably hard to open up those cases and swap out the drive. I know the "My Book" series have cases that are real bitches to open, but I guess they were never designed to be opened in the first place.
