Are there any free Usenet servers that show posts older than a month?

Google Groups if you want anything that isn't in alt.bin.* . You'll be lucky to find anyone who has more than 60 days retention on alt.bin, even for paying servers since there's just too much data.

your isp could possibly provide their own newsgroup service for no extra charge. if you're at uni this is pretty likely.
