How do I install the GCC compiler on Leopard? (3)

Hi, I have a mac on which I'm running Leopard. I'd like to install irssi, but I first need gcc to compile the code. How do I install it on my computer? Do I need xcode from Apple? Do I need to give them my information in order to install something like that? Thank you!

yes
it should be under "Optional Installs" on the Leopard install DVD, possibly under the name "Developer Tools" or something like that
