Or it certainly seems like it at this point.
Lets go over a few of the problems recently developed.
No start bar, windows button on keyboard does not function as well
Can not paste, (which has made coming to different places listing all my problems annoying)
Can't several other right click
Can not drag
System Restore does not open.
I wanna try and rescue as much as I can.
The computer is 80GB
I have a 500 GB external HD and 8GB & 1GB flash drives.
Then I need not know exactly what I need to do to fix it, perhaps reinstall if it comes to it.
I do not have a Windows disc.
Important note; comp is grandparents, I will soon be going to college so any complicated permanent changes that they will need my help working are not advisable.
So am I screwed or what?

Umm, allright...
I'm completely clueless so any help there?
Also I wanna keep my stuff
the easiest way is to get a windows disc somehow.
then use something like http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ to build a cd that you can boot off of. this will boot you into windows entirely from the cd and thus give you a more or less functioning computer (in which case you can try recovering as much as you can).
then you'd have to reformat- erase everything and start over.
maybe someone else can suggest something that would work but that's the only thing i can think of
Also can anyone think of every method possible for transferring things.
Seems I can use the right click, send to; so that might work for evacuation of files but if theres any way for me to figure out to copy text I would love it cause that is driving me crazy.
Also the sound doesn't work either...
Well turns out I cant even connect anything to the computer anymore.
Also the arrow keys don't work in the text field when I try to post at any sort of place. Also several non-letter keys brings up quickfind, again only when posting something.
I know pretty much exactly what my problem is, whatever happened nuked half of windows.
All I wanna do is rescue my crap from it at this point...
is it impossible for you to find a windows cd?
Apparently, the one I got doesn't work.
I try to run that PEBuilder thing and it comes up with errors.
I try to use the upgrade option on the disc setup and it says it cant find "atgmoy3d.sys"
Have you ever heard of the phrase, "always keep a backup"? I hope you did because it sounds like your computer is near death.
I'm a software developer and I can tell you that well over 90% of users have never heard that phrase. They always expect the software to magically do it for them.

The fucked up thing is that I was gonna back up stuff when I came home the day everything went to hell...

No one ever backs up their data. No one.
We have better things to do than perform weekly backups of our horse porn.
