I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I'll try anyway. So I have been using my current laptop for almost 3 years now, and at the beginning of this year the cool off fan starts to become really loud. Before, it would just be loud when the CPU is working at its full capacity, but now it is loud at all times, and I am starting to worry that the laptop might overheat and just breaks.
THis is definitely not normal, right?
What can I do to let it cool down? (Because even now, I'm opening only firefox and itunes, it is still so loud and when I touch the surface, it is really hot.)
You have three years worth of dust covering the air vents, which restricts airflow and cooling.
Clean your laptop. There might be take-apart guides, Google can probably help.
Give it a good shot of canned air, get the dust out, if that still doesn't work, replacing the fan might be needed.
or you can use a mini vacuum cleaner .....
By the way, don't use compressed/canned air to get rid of dust without taking it apart first. It should be obvious that blowing the dust into the computer isn't what you want to do here, but might as well mention it.
I wouldn't use any sort of vacuum cleaner while the laptop is running (and the fans spinning) either, since I'd be worried about damaging the fans / motors, but maybe that's just me.
I'd remove the heatsink and flush it out with water. (Not the fan or other parts, just the chunk of copper.)
how fucked up that may even sound, it works, use hot (near boiling might be best) water and dry everything before reassembly
haha
hahha
