weird router problem (8)

i recently purchased a new wireless router (tenda w302r) and all seems to be well, apart from one strange thing-
certain sites (notably drownedinsound.com and a couple of other) are completely inaccessible.

if i try a traceroute it stops always at the second hop with:
2 (xxx).manc.cable.ntl.com [82.21.xx.xx] reports: Destinat
ion host unreachable.
where (xxx).manc.cable.ntl.com [82.21.xx.xx] is actually my external hostname/ip address. i was thinking it might be something with the cable modem but it works fine with anoother router.

if i traceroute from some other location (or using the other router) to any of the problem sites (e.g. the aforementioned drownedinsound.com as well as fring.com which i never use but just happened to try and visit) somewhere along the line in both cases it consistently times out. but if i just try to visit the sites normally through a browser from the other location, they work.

the only thing i can possibly think of is maybe my cable modem or something at my ISP is reporting that these sites are apparently "inaccessible" (since the traceroute fails at some point wherever it's done from) and my other router would just ignore it, but the new one doesn't and just refuses to access the site. but i don't know anything about networking, so i don't know if that even makes sense.

so, uh, any help would be appreciated. thanks!
