And yes, Keroro is an okay show. I would probably like the manga as I hear it's better, but I'm too lazy to read it.

What little I watched of Keroro Gunso seemed pretty lame, and all the jokes just fell flat. Is that really all there is to it, or am I missing something?

Well, I only have volume 1 but I'd say it's pretty good. No obvious flaws or edits, although there is one part where Natsumi says Keroro looks like Slimer from Ghostbusters. I'm guessing that it was originally a more obscure Japanese reference, so they changed it to something American from the same period.
