I admit it, I was only watching Mai-Otome in the hopes that it would suddenly become one of the best shows of the season, all the while laughing at the many fanboys that it drew and pointing out how inferior it was to Mai Hime.
However, episode 17 made me glad that I've watched all of the previous crap, as it looks like it just might get interesting.
PS: Is it just me, of is the new opening sort of a throwback to Gundam Seed?
What, is it pulling a Mai-HiME and suddely piling on a lot of stupid angst?
>>2
Exactly.
It appears to be handled better this time around, though. They have more of a reason to be at each other's troaths than just "those are the rules of the game, girls".
Of course, since I was expecting this to happen beforehand, I prevented myself from getting too attached to the characters, which helped soften the blow.
It's still the lamest cop-out plot device ever.
Either make a cutesy happy moe show, or make something angsty and depressing. Don't think you can just jump between the two as you please. It'll only feel cheap and ridiculous.
A cop-out with loud noises, sparks, and flashing lights will keep me watching!
Beware. Episode 18 is quite good.
Note to aspiring screenwriters: If you intend to criticize bad governmenting, do not portray the only government officials in your script as nice and noble, especially if you portray the victims of these policies as a bloodthirsty faceless mass. Under no circumstances should you combine these portrayals in a scene where a mob kills one of said officials.
Random thoughts/questions about ep 18
Less talk about 18, more talk about how great 19 will be
19: Did something actually happen?
>>10
Yes it did. Pay attention!
Yukariko got drunk and tried to kiss Nao again!
really?
No! It was a joke!
the shows great, dodgy start but its finally becoming a show which makes me crave the next ep, sorta like what naruto and bleach were like, well before they started showing crappy side stories.. hehe ;) oh yeah arika's tranformation looks stupid comapired to nina's.. hehe

This week was actually pretty good!
This is my first time posting here. So I hope I do a good job.
First I want to show my love of this show and it's characters. For those who watched Mai Hime, and for those who will someday watch Mai Hime as it has become licensed in the United states I want to say "Welcome to a wonderful series"
I think that this show will not have the same mainstream appeal as other anime series in America. The action, drama and story is very good for a one shot, open can production, parts of the show may be to much of a turn off for even the occasional anime watcher. The Maid theme, tentecle mosters... _| ̄|O may by just to much for many to pick up and try right off the bat.
I urge people who are watching this show and exposing it to others, do so delicatly, let the story pull your friends in to truley enjoy it all! I hope many people in America and Canada will watch this show eventually.
Wow... I can't believe epsiode 24. Although, judging by the fact it still activated for her, I don't think Sergei actually went all the way.
But her earring did activate, along with the machine thing.
The last time the robe automaticly activated, this time the gem just sparked a little and nothing happened
so just a few days before the last ep put the kids to bed bring in the cat and put out the dog because its gunna be violent i just wana see what Haruka's new toy can do!
T_T I regret ever watching Otome. I don't normally regret anything, but I do regret having wasted my life on it.
I watched MaiHIME mostly to get all the references to it on imageboards, and thought it needed a director, among other things. I can't believe that they actually seem to have picked the "turn serious around ep 15 blah blah" story structure again for Otome though.
>>but I do regret having wasted my life on it
23 minutes once a week really means that much to you? Just how much time did you put into it?
