Cosplay (20)

Well, the con season is coming up. And you know what that means? Cosplay.

Truthfully, I abhor 95% of cosplay... but that other 5% just might make it worth it.

I've also always sort of wanted to try it, but there was always a part of me holding myself back from becoming that otaku.

I just may this year, however. For me, it's the kind of thing I can see myself in the future looking back and wishing I had tried, so I might as well do it while I'm still young.

Now as a costume... I'm think Man-Miyu. :p

So you think youre gonna be among the top 5% elite cosplayers if you do cosplay?

3 Name: Random Anime Otaku 2006-02-18 10:39 ID:Heaven

I'll try to be.

If I don't think my cosplay is good enough, I'll scrap it.

Hints to be among the top 5%:
Don't dye your hair.
Make sure the fabric isn't shiny.
Do not have a weapon.
Never ever be out of character.

>Don't dye your hair.

Shouldn't that be dye your hair right? Either that or find a good wig.

>Do not have a weapon.

Especially if you're going as Wolfwood/Gungrave/Haji (one of those guys who always carry around big box) or a Bleach character/Shana/Saya/a .Hack character/a character from an rpg like FF or Kingdom Hearts/or Natusme Aya/Maya (people who are constantly carrying around swords.)

Wait... no.

Not unless it can be done by a pro. A novelty wig will suck, and a good one cost way too much, and fancy colors need to be subdued to look decent in real life.

Also, realize that your photo will end up on the Internets, maybe as an image macro if you really suck.

Depends on the color, then. If it's just to a color people normally have like brown, black, or blonde, should be easier, especially if done by a pro.

I'm considering dying my hair blonde. Not for cosplay, but simply because I want to change it to that. Of course, if I can cosplay a blonde haired character, all the better.

>Also, realize that your photo will end up on the Internets, maybe as an image macro if you really suck.

Like I care. I've posted my own picture on the internets various times. And like I said, if I do it, I I won't suck.

People like Jewish Wolfwood make cosplay awesome.

End of discussion.

If they're doing it as a joke, or it they can pull it off.

Although, if they can pull it off, that might not be too good for the other guys.

Why Westerner's Maria-sama ga miteru cosplays are such awful?

Westerner's anything cosplay is uaully awful.

Although, they're worse when they cosplay as school girls. They aren't as short/petite as most Japanese women and the uniforms simply aren't made to fit/look good on them.

Less obsessive attention to detail? I'm no Marimite expert, but the collar fabric is too heavy and cut too wide. The black band on the collar is also too thick and spaced too far from the edge.

Mies van der Rohe said "God is in the details." Yes, detail is important.
Maybe making dresses for a small doll like Blythe will be good training for amateur cosplay tailors.
