there are a lot of people who get pissed off when some dumbass starts a new thread just to ask some stupid question about what anime to watch, so instead i'm gonna hijack this thread to ask my dump question. seeing as it hasn't had 1 responce since it was made last year i dont think anyone will mind
so heres my question, i have this friend wo likes really crappy anime (bleach, inuyasha, naturo etc.) but he says he's wiling to watch some of the better ones. I showed him gundam wing & neo genesis but he said they were borring, and since he isn't a total hentai like me i can't show him any moe anime. Does any one have any suggestions of what i can show him to expand his horizons?
Since your friend seems to be into shonen but not mecha, you might want to try Berserk, Fist of The North Star, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls, (maybe)Fate/Stay night, or (maybe)Excel Saga to start. If you want to try to broaden his horizons, Rozen Maiden, Gunslinger Girl, Gurren Langann or Elfen Leid might have enough action to keep him interested while exposing him to other genres.
I second >>3's recommendations (except the maybes, the former because it's sluggishly paced and frankly not that great, the latter because it might be too absurd to start off with) and add Code Geass and Fullmetal Alchemist to the list.

Say what you want about its quality, it ought to be a good gateway anime for attempting to wean people off even more unequivocally horrible shonen shit. (Geass is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I'm no FMA fan; that was recommended for the same reason.)

On the other hand, FMA I quite enjoyed. It was relatively long while not being so long that it pulled a Naruto. The story varied here and there, so it maintained a reasonable level of interest to the end.
Code Gay-ass is just fake CLAMP. If you're going to watch something CLAMPy, make it some real CLAMP material.
