I've got GxS and Gg which one should I look first if any? I'd prefer to watch the less good one first and if they are equally good I'd prefer to watch the less serious one first. Or maybe one of them suck so I should skip it altogether.
Yeah I know I could read a review online but seriously, the guys at those review sites aren't half as otaku as the noobest noob here so I trust you guys (and girl) better.
I have never seen Gun x Sword, but I do really enjoy Gungrave so I'm going to have to go with that as my vote
Gungrave. It's like Cowboy Bebop, but without space.
Sigh. Don't start a thread for a single goddamn question. This thread is going nowhere.
Oh sorry I didn't knew there was a scarcity of thread... what? Fuel? Material?
We can change the topic to "Cowboy themed animes, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly"
Or you can let it die.
I don't particulary like cowboy themes, but i think Trigun was great if anything because I think Vash rules and I found the concept of "alien angel like immortal roaming an endless desert of war and conflict" quite compeling.
Bebop? Well i found the concept very interesting and well played if unoriginal, and i didn't manage to care about any of the characters except surprisingly, Ed.
Between the two Gungrave just wins hands down and is the more serious of the two titles.
Being an otaku is a bad thing, you know. It doesn't mean "fan"
Which means i'm going to watch gun x sword first since i'm more like tsukasa than konata in this respect
They're not remotely similar. Gungrave was good until it got weird, just like Berserk. Until then it was a good "rise to the top" mob story. Gun X Sword is more like Trigun than anything else, and the mecha are pretty so-so. Didn't see how it ended.
ef. gungrave, i can't get into the plot of gunxsword.
Why does it even matter which one you watch first. Aren't you going to ultimately watch both?
thats true...i guess i would watch Gungrave before gunxsword
GunXSword had a pretty good ending, very satisfying, and the lead character is just batshit in that pleasant berserker "fuck you" way.
First half is so-so though, but after that it just goes up.
Also: piloting mecha through pole-dancing ftw.
I really loved Gungrave for the way it handled things.
(A few spoilers in my post, but since it's a prequel to a video game it's not really the sort of show that's easily spoiled).
I mean, the game was pretty good, but not because of its generic story. Adapting action games to anime is always supposed to go wrong. For a recent example, see Devil May Cry.
But the writers for Gungrave had some serious balls. They decided to manhandle that mess of a game into an epic mafia story spanning decades.
For most of the show you wonder how the hell the mafia story could ever evolve in the flashy post-apocalyptic universe of the game.
You get to see characters rise from worthless street thugs to the top of the mafia.
A few months or even years pass between each episode, and you get to see all the characters slowly changing - the characters have like dozens of slightly different looks over the span of the series.
Then without any sort of warning or forshadowing or anything, scientists reveal a way of creating undead armies, then everything proceeds to get completely fucked up.
Also, the way they handled in the show the fact that in the game Brandon is a standard silent protagonist was pretty awesome.
Many people will think it's just some random videogame adaptation not worth their time, judging only from the 2nd part of the show that's prominent in the OP and the 1st episode, but this show is a real classic you can enjoy without knowing anything about the game.
Too bad the 2nd game, Gungrave Overdose, decided to shit all over the continuity established by the anime.
