Hey does anyone know of any animes worth renting?Something along the lines of scifi or action or anything serious.And also movies not series.

Well, in general I prefer series for the character development. That said, a few that I watch pretty frequently:

Anything by Miyazaki, they are enjoyed by people of all ages. You should probably watch "Princess Mononoke" first, given that you want something more serious and action-y.

Perfect Blue, if you like Hitchcock. It's a psychological thriller.

Read Or Die. There's a single disc OAV and a series. A bit like western superhero shows in that there's a few people with special powers and they need to stop a big enemy. Very creative though and the action is good.

Huh, I can't remember which single-shot movies I own. Sorry! If I think of more I'll append, or perhaps the rest of the board can help.

Word of warning: a lot of great movies coincide with a series - either they are a retelling (like Escaflowne and X) that won't be as good as the series itself, or an extension (like FMA: The Movie and Neon Genesis Evangelion movies) that won't make sense without watching the series first. Be careful of those when renting.
