I'm hunting for shows that contain depressed, lonely, suicidal characters. So far I've thought of Serial Experiments Lain in the first half. Any recommendations?

Paranoia Agent, just WOW. Full of depressed, multipersonality,suicidal,Angst,Sexual (pedo too) persons. it's a goddamn masterpiece.

On a more related note however, Now and Then, Here and There has a rather depressed supporting character or two. The main character is all burning spirit style though, so I'm not sure how well it fits. Thought I'd mention it anyway.
Lain was depressing in the end though, not in the beginning...
The beginning... Err, well, maybe more everything up until the very end, just didn't make sense and sorta set up for the end.
