Anyone here surely have watch DB, it's base on a Chinese novel "Journey to the west". And another ecchi series like Ikkitousen (Battle Vinxen) or Koihime Musou base on a Chinese novel "Romance of Three Kindom" too. Both of them very famous in Asia. If you want to know more about these title, you shuold read these series too.
And did you read The Ring or Dark Water ? It's also very famous!
Guess everyone here is America, I'm an Asian and read some Western novel like Lord of the ring, Three Musketer.. not a big deal to me ! So tell me what you think about Asia novel ?
Koihime Musou sucks because it turned Zhuge Liang from an incredibly badass genius strategist into a loli moeblob who occasionally supplies the others with a obvious plan because they're even stupider.
I haven't even bothered watching Ikkitousen. I expect its genderswapped Zhuge Liang collects a hundred thousand arrows by getting them shot into her massive tits & ass.
Moomins were popular enough to have two animated series from Japan

Moomins were not a Japanese or Chinese novel.

1/2 Prince is a Taiwanese novel (which is written in Chinese) and has a manhua based off of it. Same with The Legend of Sun Knight, by the same author. No anime for them, though. =/
Saiyuki is also based on Journey to the West if I remember right. I never watch the series though.
I've read Welcome to the NHK, Boogiepop, and Haruhi.
I'm still reading my way through the Haruhi series. Am on the third novel by now. Am I the only one who would shell out mad cash to have these books turned into audio dramas voiced by the anime cast (narrator obviously being Tomokazu Sugita aka Kyon)?
Also have read some of the first Full Metal Panic novel, and bought a few of its sequels.
Oh, and the last time I visited Japan, I brought back the first three Slayers novels. Have only read the first so far.
Outside of Welcome to the NHK, no.
