Is it just me, or is this kind of stupid:

>BookSwim is the first online book rental library service lending you paperbacks, hardcovers and now college textbooks Netflix®-style directly to your house, without the need to purchase!

What with the, you know, LIBRARIES and all.

I don't understand how this works. What is preventing me from savig the book to my hard drive before "sending it back"? IE what anti-piracy mechanisms exist? How is content protected?

The content is protected by assuming that most people don't want to take the time and scan 500 pages. :P

DRM. Supposed to stop a book being read after a specific period.

In that case, do you know which DRM format they use for ebooks? Certainly not .djvu or .pdf; these do not support DRM.

No idea; just assumed they would use DRM.
