I want to use this article to dispute about whale catch.
English only (for International use).
I agree whale catch because Whales eat a lot of fishes (4 times human) and we'll not be able to have rations from sea. Also, we'll not be able to have rations from land with surplus population.
Please comment here.

.. Leave the whales alone.. let them eat fish.
the thing is, it's the humans who have destyoed everything so just shut up and eat stone.
tastes just like chicken
I guess if you're eating a species that isn't endagered it's as acceptable as eating any other fish.
whales don't eat fish they eat creel* or however you spell it dumbass bitch
A significant amount of the fish whales eat are the kind of fish we never would have harvested anyway.

I'm not american. My country never hunted whales. Countries have nothing to do with it.
Who did what in the past doesn't matter, except for ensuring that they aren't allowed to do any of it any more. That doesn't make it right for others to continue to hunt, regardless of if they use a tiny amount or a huge amount of the animal.
The problem is that there are several whale species that are endangered, yet they keep getting hunted because they're not "seriously" endangered.
>First its the whales then it will be people screaming about others eating too much vegetables.
Let's use this comparison:
There's an endangered plant species X, their roots work as nutritious food for humans. This plant requires delicate conditions to continue living, and can only be spread via newly formed lumps of the roots being planted. Do we let people finish eating up the few remaining roots, and kill the species, or do we let them spread and prosper, and then consume only a highly regulated amount every other or third year that varies accordingly to how well they've survived in that time?
The first way will get people that kind of food for that year, the other way will give less food per time unit than just eating it all up, but for centuries and millennia to come, unless we blast ourselves to bits. This unlike getting a large amount of food for a few years and then nevermore of it. I don't want Whale-species going the same way as Dodos.
Why can't humans catch and eat whales that aren't endangered? Humans have been doing it since a long long long time ago. Is it because there are a bunch of whale loving, sentimental big wigs on the board that governs the whale catching industry? Or has Greenpeace infiltrated the board and placed one of their activist? Conspiracies, conspiracies.

Ahahahahaa. Silly and stupid.

Most whales are endangered. Some species are "not endangered", but that by a horribly small margin. If you compare the amount of whales now to what existed in the past, you will see a huge difference in numbers.
>>58
What past do you mean? Like a 100 years or so? I know that whales like blue whales ARE endangered but why not hunt those other not endangered whales and keep the hunting strictly monitored like what they are doing in other fisheries?

IF you ask me, I say that those anti-whaling countries are trying to stop those pro-whalers because of monetary gain. The US with its beef exports to Japan for example. If the Japanese have another source of food, they might eat less beef that are coming in from the US. Japan would depend less for imports on food items. And remember Japan's ban on US beef imports? The US threatened economic sanctions on Japan if they would not lift the ban.
>>59
There was a beef ban, was there not? No American beef allowed for a long while. I heard people still complained about the lack of American beef for their beef bowl. I do not believe whales have anything to do with beef. People who want beef will want good beef, not whale meat. People who want whale meat will want whale meat.
I am not concerned about countries, to be honest. I do not care where whale-hunters come from at all. I do not care how many people before them there was. I care about what they do. I do not feel strongly about whales being hunted. People hunt and eat a lot of other intelligent animals, why single out whales for intelligence? I do however feel strongly about any species being hunted with a too small margin. We have a lot of fish-species that are seriously endangering getting almost extinct, thanks to humans overfishing them. Based on all I've read, it seems as if most (though not all) whale species risk heading the same way. A too small margin is not practical, especially if some disease or other problem randomly strikes and takes out a smaller chunk of the population. With a small margin, that may seriously damage the populations and put our use in grave danger. With a larger margin, it might just be a minor problem for a few years only, because there was a larger amount as backup.
We must be careful with what we do to the ecological system. We may be good at surviving in a wide range of environments, but that is no excuse to make even more of our environments too harsh on us. We are not cockroaches, and will not survive every bad event that happens on this earth. We are exponentially becoming more and more people on this planet. This makes it even more vital for us to not destroy large amounts of useful resources.
I kind of like my tuna and halibut and talipia
What they don't make up in size, they'll make up in numbers
whale as in fat wimminz?

Australian FM discusses whaling with Japan
Australia's Foreign Minister Stephen Smith has raised the federal government's opposition to Japanese whaling during a meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister in Tokyo.
Mr Smith again flagged the prospect of legal action against its ally over the issue.
After meeting the Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso, Stephen Smith told the ABC he raised the issue of Japan's whaling in the southern ocean.
"I also made the point that the Japanese whaling fleet has sailed again," he said.
The Australian Foreign Affairs minister says he warned the Japanese Prime Minister of the possibility of a clash between anti-whaling activists and the Japanese fleet during the hunt.
Mr Smith says Australia wants to resolve the issue diplomatically, but is not ruling out taking legal action against Japan.
