$90 USD, gets you, according to STEAM:
Half Life 2, Half Life 1, Counterstrike: Source, Day Of Defeat, and a nice flashy artbooklet/strategy guide, t-shirt, and other merchandise to whore your gaming hobby.
Alternatively, $60 gets you:
Half Life 2, CounterStrike: Source, Day Of Defeat, a Valve catalog.
Then then last package is $50:
Half Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source.

Nice packages, IMHO.

Steam is gay. Discuss.

12 Name: Lain!.b4fqjPDPo 2004-11-19 05:52 ID:moRuvCaw [Del]

Steam may suck, but at the very least it's an inventive method to stop piracy. They put a lot of work into HalfLife2, and quite honestly I see their reasoning with Steam.

Sorry dudes, I've developed some morals. SUE ME.

Yet you hang out on a chan. Hahahahaha... *cough

14 Name: dmpk2k!hinhT6kz2E 2004-11-20 00:27 ID:Zn6CdhvA [Del]

Whoops. Kareha ate it. WAHa, maybe modify it so that it'll emphasize only those things between '*' which do not have intervening spaces.

15 Name: !WAHa.06x36 2004-11-20 13:34 ID:Heaven [Del]

But that would stop you from emphasizing titles, which I find very useful.

hl2 has no love in it's violence (ravenholm is just lame)

>Yet you hang out on a chan.

Not only that, I run/ran two of them.

>I run/ran two of them.

INTO THE GROUND. Even so, I'll still love you when the bombs start dropping.

19 Name: Anonymous 2004-11-21 00:05 ID:Heaven [Del]

hello my friends, i wish to observe that this game has the most worthless installer ever shat out of some underpaid indian code monkey's arse through his tandoori chicken stained keyboard and into his microsoft quickbasic 4.5 ide.

20 Name: !WAHa.06x36 2004-11-21 02:25 ID:QaUzRFtA [Del]

"microsoft quickbasic 4.5 ide". I've gotta remember that one.

21 Name: dmpk2k!hinhT6kz2E 2004-11-21 07:57 ID:CTfGYunw [Del]

Hey, you. Show some respect. Quickbasic 4.5 was the bomb.

It was still slow as molasses though, even compiled.

22 Name: !WAHa.06x36 2004-11-21 13:47 ID:QaUzRFtA [Del]

Once, I coded a fire effect in Quickbasic, because I was JUST THAT BORED.

I think that's all I've ever done with Quickbasic.

23 Name: Anonymous 2004-11-21 15:21 ID:k4v3YLPg [Del]

Quickbasic was also one of the last things Billy Gates actually programmed with (as in, created code).

But then again, C has also been more fun.

One thing I noticed back then (both with QB4.5 and QC2.1) was that Microsoft really knew how to make good documentation. The stuff shipping with Borland just paled in comparison.

It's probably changed in the meantime. Anyone able to comment?

MSDN Library is HUEG lol

(As in, four CD's large.)

Yeah but remember also that the camel book isnt exactly something you could fit in your pocket.

27 Name: dmpk2k!hinhT6kz2E 2004-11-22 20:01 ID:ZHiJgOeA [Del]

Yeah, I know it's huge. But how useful is it? ^^;

28 Name: Anonymous 2004-11-23 00:17 ID:avunP3mA [Del]

I bought from steam so I get DOD:S and HL:S.

29 Name: Anonymous 2004-11-23 05:36 ID:Heaven [Del]

Whats this about not being able to play HL2 without steam?

hl2.exe -steam work?

Nope, doesn't work.

32 Name: dmpk2k!hinhT6kz2E 2004-11-23 22:45 ID:qeUw77qw [Del]

What if you firewall off HL2? Won't start?

33 Name: Lain!zJuWe9wYoU 2004-11-24 21:15 ID:SZFXRyNQ [Del]

>Yeah, I know it's huge. But how useful is it? ^^;

It's alright. They give generic code examples for stuff and explain how to use it. But thats usually only for C# and VB.NET, from what I've seen. They don't get into C++ or other languages much.
