Everyone who cares already knows, but ToP GBA is released this march.

A friend of mine tried to get into Eternia online a few months ago (it was in closed beta then, I don't know what it's in now), but met with failure :(

The character scenario after it had cleared was very impressed by Tales of Legendia.

Non Japanese residents can get in beta, its just a matter of dumb luck, and seeing how popular the tales series is no doubt they have hundreds of thosands of apps from the japanese, and tons of weeaboo aps, and tons of normal tales fans aps...

I do believe ToE online is in open beta now! This calls for a revival!

Bad news is, I get a "Please use a Japanese-enabled browser." error when trying to sign up. orz

Thanks. I actually ended up reading to do that on another board a few minutes after posting, but still thanks!

So now that I've played about a days worth, here's the game for the uninterested:

Basicly, it's a combination of RO/D2/other clickclickclickclickclick games. F1-F10 are used for attacks, skills, items, and field actions.

The field looks similar to ToE, but you walk by clicking spots rather than using directional keys. You also move with the mouse in battle, using the F keys to attack. It takes a little getting used to (especially with the two different types of attack having seperate buttons), but it's simple enough. The biggest change is the combo system. You can make combos by pressing one attack after another is done - if you don't do it correctly, you have to wait a second to attack again, leaving you open. It's pretty neat, since lots of MMORPGs just let you mash things to death.

Since you can't really get a game over, when you die you just lie there. Either someone can drag you back to town, or you can just be warped there. I guess there's some advantage to being carried, but I have no idea what.

In other words, everyone needs to start playing before the open beta ends (about a week from now, I think) and we can never play again.

"Tales of" series called "Ota-Ge(オタゲー)" by partial Japanese(person).

"Ota-Ge" is "Otaku" + "Game" that means "Game that only Otaku plays".

BUT, Don't worry.
Anyone who call "Ota-Ge" is Deep Otaku.

sorry for unskillfuly english again.

It's pretty much the same over here. Before Tales of Symphonia came out, the series was mostly unknown, but most fans were big fans.

Symphonia got pretty popular, but many of it's fans don't seem to know it's a part of a series.

Is the song "Supernova" by Bump of Chicken really featured in Tales of the Abyss?

I can olny hope they don't cut it out when it's released in the west. I love BOC and to hear their song in an RPG would be...quite alright.

Lots of new announcements today/yesterday/whatever.

-Fully voiced Phantasia remake/port for PSP.
-Destiny remake for PS2 in the style of Rebirth/Destiny 2, with a new LMBS variant that allows you to use skills in the air. It seems to have new skills, and Leon is using two swords like in Destiny 2.
-Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology for PSP, similar to the Narikiri Dungeon games, with characters from the main series games.
-Destiny 2 is being ported to PSP, no info or screens.
-Tempest is still "Coming Soon".
-...Symphonia anime. meh.

27 Name: 26 : 2006-06-21 11:51 ID:YLeeDv4e

Tales Channel added pages for the new games and a little bit of new info.

-I haven't played the PS version, but Phantasia seems to have gotten some graphical updates from SFC/GBA. The world map is sort of 3D now, and some attacks are updated - but it's mostly the same. It also has animation scenes to go along with the fully voiced gimmick.
-Nothing new on the Destiny remake, as far as I can tell.
-Radiant Mythology seems to be a dungeon exploration game (I didn't bother to try and read what it said, so don't quote me on that) with a class system. I didn't try to figure that out either, so I'll go with "you may or may not be able to switch classes mid-game". It's shown characters from every major Tales game except for Eternia and Destiny 2, but they're most likely in it too.
-Destiny 2 PSP's page doesn't have much more than a year on it.

Motoi Sakuraba had composed the music Of Tales RPG, but now,
The composers are not only him but also other members.
Motoi Sakuraba is very busy now, cause he has other jobs besides Tales RPG.
Now, if his name is printed on the staff list as a composer,
he seems to compose quite a few music.
