Mouse Sensitivity in FPS's (3)

Why are lower settings for sensitivity 'better'? I use 12.0 when playing Counter-strike: Source and Dystopia, and I have no problem. However, many people tell me that's not a good idea.

I use 1.5-3 in HL games. I guess it's just a preference thing.

I don't like high senseitivity(especially something like 12), because if I move the mouse slightly, it moves a larger distance. Makes it harder for me to get precision shots.

I don't remember the numbers involved, but I like my mouse sensitivity pretty high. I'm basically looking with my hands, so I like my feild of vision to respond with me. I'm also one of those people who used to move my hands while playing the old NES, like it would move things quicker. In other words, although I get immersed in the game, it's easy for sluggish controls to destroy that suspensu=ion of disbelief, and get really frustrating. Most games however, are adequate at about 3/4 of the way up.

That's actually why I get annoyed with Halo. I put the sensitivity on the controls to maximum, and it still feels like it's lagging.
