One year ago, there was a post on world4ch /games/ looking for people interested in starting an Ultima Online guild on an independent server. Beyond all expectations, it not only survived, but thrived for several months until real life and a lack of fresh blood (no doubt abetted by the steady decline in quality of world4ch) frittered away the number of members. By June it was dead.
But for someone who had never played an MMORPG before, much less the grandpa of them all and the heir to the longest-running RPG series in gaming history, it was an eye-opener. Even though our little guild never really lived up to its potential, it was a very fine, close-knit group, not by 4chan standards but standards in general. It was a lot of fun while it lasted.
And I'd like to make it happen again.
If this interests you at all, drop a message in this thread. I'll see if I can round up the old guild members, and we can flesh out the details like what server to play on and an IRC channel to better coordinate.

It sounds fun, but I don't know if I want to commit to another one of these games after spending several years on various MUDs and MUSHes. Got any tales of adventure or farce from your guild days you can regale us with?
( ´ω`) Why, of course, sonny! There I was, inside the guild house. "Touch the guild stone!" the guildmaster told me. Well, I don't know what he means by "touch", so I go outside the house and get killed by bog monsters in the swamp. "GOD DAMMIT GRANDPA JUST CLICK ON ON THE FUCKING THING"

( ´ω`) Oh, and there was that one time where I went chopping wood just outside Britain and a squadron of gankers cut me down because I was riding a beetle. They must have been really disappointed to find out I was only carrying wood!
