[Retro] SaGa General [Nostalgia] (11)

GB, SNES, PS1, whatever other systems (For those not in the know, the game boy entries were changed to the Final Fantasy Legend series. Check here for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SaGa_(series)).

In SaGa 2, I can't beat Apollo with a human, a mutant, a robot, and a damn good monster. Does Mana make a difference in terms of his Flare attack's damage (at least I think that's what it's called)? I know that Masamune will always deal like 573 or so damage to you no matter what your stats are.

In Romancing SaGa 3, I'm currently playing a Julian game, with plans of a Harid game afterward, and later a Katrina game. Is Mikhail's game worth playing, or is it just tedious?

You know it's weird, I don't think I had any trouble with SaGa2 but I always hear about people having trouble with Apollo.

For me, he caught me off guard. I didn't expect him to be as strong as he was or beat the shit out of me as bad as he did when I encountered him. Subsequent encounters have forced me to opt for the way of the grind so I can pulverize him like I did every other boss. For me, the only hard bosses before him were Venus and Odin really. Everyone else was pretty decent as long as I got some good shots in. For Apollo, about a third of the stuff I throw at him misses or doesn't do as much damage as I hoped.

I know other people have different experiences, but that's what I've come across. Haniwa is going to suck, despite being optional.

I was never able to finish SaGa II. I usually get to Apollo who precedes to rape me like nobody's business. I actually killed him once, but than Arsenal tore me a new one. Despite that, I still like the game and its still on my top list of SaGa games.

SaGa III is probably one of my favorites in the series. I know its really easy, but for some reason I just love playing it. Once you get the legendary swords (or whatever they were called) the game is over.

For Romancing SaGa III I usually use Mikhail. I don't really do any of the Ruling Mini-Game stuff, so I couldn't tell you how tedious it is. In his intro you have to win like two war scenes, but if you use an emulator and really suck at them, just savestate and hope to win. I've always meant to use other characters, but everytime I play it, I end up using the same group. Also, Leonid is awesome.

For as far as I got in Minstrel Song, I enjoyed it, but now I don't know what the fuck I'm doing, and if I go to this one city, I get fucking annihilated by some giant frog monster.

I never got into the SaGa Frontier portion of the series, despite spending the most money to get those games...

And finally, I got Unlimited Saga for like 3 dollars, and put it in and had no idea what the fuck was happening, so I put it back in the box and played Minstrel Song instead. Unlimited Saga made absolutely no sense, but I didn't have the manual so maybe that would've helped?

No, it wouldn't have. The manual for this game is utterly useless.

Look on GameFAQs and read the FAQ by Joewoof instead.

When i purchased Unlimited Saga, I had never actually played a saga game before, so I was hit with a double whammy of awful game and non-linear gameplay + weird weapon degrading...

When I played Minstrel Song, I got better.

Apollo made me have to restart the game and do the game right a second time, although I didn't mind it.

Heh, has any one done the dragon glitch in FFL2? You have a character cast Teleport while on a dragon from the dragon races chapter and you can then walk through walls in the world selection area, and walk really damn fast.

No, since I've heard you could potential screw up your file or something to that nature if you screw up the process..

I've done it a few times and never had any problems with it. Maybe I just got lucky.
