GBA game fiddlin' (7)

Okay, so I bought an R4 clone, and thankfully got it working nicely. However, much to my dismay I discovered slot-1 cards don't support GBA games. This is because slot-2 has faster access to the cpu and gba games usually have additional ram on their boards. One of the reasons I got my R4 was to play Mother 3 on the DS. Shit.

So, do I have some other recourse? I'm not sure if this is even possible, but is there a way to overwrite a ligitimate gba game with another with some kind of homebrew? Any advice would be nice. (I thought I heard something about GBAldr, but I think it might just be for ez flash 3-in-1...

If you have a PSP, you could emulate and still play portably :D

Wouldn't I need someone with a hacked batery to help hack mine, if I had one?

I'm in a similar situation to you; just yesterday I tried to put Mother 3 on my R4 and was disappointed. I did some research and it seems that you can't play GBA games with an R4 card, you'll just have to get a slot-2 card.

I don't know if those re-writable GBA flash carts have gotten any cheaper, but they might be a good option.

well, I mostly just bought the R4 because my local pawnshop gets them in every once in a while. I doubt they'll bother getting any other kinds.
