Suggestions for long flights (13)

I am flying to Hong Kong in about a month, so I'm assuming I'll be on a single flight for about sixteen hours. I'm wondering what other people who have been on such flights (or anyone, for that matter) would suggest doing for all this time. I'll have my laptop with me, so I'll probably bring some games, and I'll have all the free drinks I want, so the it shouldn't seem as long as it might otherwise. Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Pretty much the only things I bother to do on a flight are watch the movies, sleep and eat. I usually don't sleep the night before flight, that way I sleep well on the flight, and don't get jet-lagged. Do make sure you are nice and cumfy, and every so often get off your ass and take a leak/freshen up otherwise you'll feel like shit.

Make sure to fap in the bathroom. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I'll keep that in mind.

Anyways, since I'm bringing a laptop, I figure it would be a good idea to get some games to play. Does anyone have any recommendations for any good games with somewhat simple system requirements (think Warcraft 3 or lower) which can occupy a lot of time?

nethack. Or, emulate some old super nintendo RPGs or something. Great classics that take a long time to play, and no system requirements.

Dude. Starcraft. The Diablo series even?

But other than that, make sure to make a new playlist just for that flight.

bring a deck of cards. learn some single player games. learn the one-handed shuffle http://vroman0.tripod.com/shuffle.htm. It took me 5 20 mintue sessions to develop reasonable card shuffling skills.

bring a pen and learn some pen tricks http://www.pentrix.com/

If you're not in first or business class, there isn't much reason to take your laptop out. There's no room unless you're a midget. You're better off with something small, like a book (provided you aren't easily distractable). >>7 sounds like fun too.

Also, try to get a seat on an aisle. Put in some earplugs and cover them with large sealed headphones. Take a walk every hour. Constantly pester the attendants for something to drink. Yadda yadda.

I always get stuck with that thought. Do I take the window seat and get the nice view, but have to annoy someone everytime I want to go take a piss, or sit in the aisle and have someone do it to me?

The obvious answer is that it's better to be the one doing the annoying than the one being annoyed.

Bump for truth. Free drinks and you're asking us how to pass the time? Getting hammered is the only way I can sleep on a plane. Make use of this opportunity and circumvent jet lag! Set your watch to local time at your destination the moment you get on and start knocking back shots of tequila. Depending on your tolerance, you'll pass out in no time.

Don't sleep the night before. If you don't use your time on the plane to sleep that's an entire day of your life fucked up the asshole of air travel.
